Slowly, but surely...

Thank goodness that we came into this adoption process with our eyes wide open. It is unbelievable how much paperwork is involved in this journey to our daughter (s). We had the indescribable pleasure of driving three hours to Jackson, MS last night, staying in a dingy hotel room, and driving back this morning for an appointment to have our biometrics taken for the Department of Homeland Security. This appointment took a total of half and hour! I am wondering why we couldn't do this in Shreveport? Oh well! We used it as family bonding time and as an opportunity to read more about our child's homeland. We are now building our dossier, which is a bundle of paperwork that has to be notarized, state certified, and then nationally certified before sending to Ethiopia. I am actually taking pleasure in the preparation of this dossier, as it makes me feel like I am doing something tangible to be with my daughter (s). The next step is to get these physicals done and wait for our home study to be completed. Very exciting! To our little girl (s): We pray for you every day and we think about you all the time. It is amazing to be able to love you this much without having ever met you. We are so looking forward to meeting your needs, making you feel safe, playing and laughing and sharing the gift of family with you. May our Lord care for you and envelop you in the safety of His love.
